Manitoba Law Reform Commission
The Manitoba Law Reform Commission [MLRC] was established in 1970. For over 50 years, the MLRC has made recommendations to improve, modernize, and reform the laws of Manitoba. To date, the MLRC has published 144 final reports, many of which have resulted in amendments to Manitoba legislation, while many others have been cited in judicial decisions and journal articles.
The MLRC regularly consults and collaborates with academics, experts, and the wider legal community in crafting recommendations that are meaningful and practical. The MLRC also serves a legal education role by working with law students on legal research projects and running continuing legal education seminars on law reform topics. The MLRC is currently studying the law on elder abuse and neglect, the law of partition and sale, presumption of consent for organ donation, and anti-SLAPP legislation.
